Christina E. Teczar
Director of Events
Seeing official events through from conception to execution is Christina Teczar’s principal responsibility as director for the Office of External Relations, Communications and Advancement Services. She also creates and manages events for the Chancellor and the Board of Regents. Ms. Teczar oversees and coordinates every aspect of official System events from venue selection, catering and entertainment to attendee registration, lodging and other related logistics.
Until she joined the Office of External Relations, Communications and Advancement Services, Ms. Teczar was an independent event coordinator. Prior to that, she was director of the office of scheduling and advance for the U.S. Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C. In 2004, Ms. Teczar worked for the U.S. Department of Defense in Baghdad, Iraq, in the office of strategic communications. While serving as a civilian during the liberation of Iraq, she received the Joint Civilian Service Achievement Award for exceptional meritorious service.
Ms. Teczar received a bachelor of arts degree in interdisciplinary studies from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Assistant Director of Events
As Assistant Director of Events, Merna Clements organizes a variety of special events for The University of Texas System. Merna collaborates with UT System departments, UT institutions, and the community to ensure a successful event. She attends to the smallest of details while building relationships with UT System vendor partners.
Merna began her career working in the advertising industry in New York City and Austin. In progressively responsible positions, she gained extensive experience in production and planning. Merna started her state service in Houston at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where she planned fundraising and cultivation events.
Ms. Clements received a bachelor of arts degree in Hispanic studies from The University of Texas at Austin.
