An effective teacher guides and challenges, but also asks questions, listens, and responds.
My classes are structured to facilitate an environment of trust. If students trust me, they are more likely to take risks in their thinking: to move outside their comfort zones and to feel comfortable with discomfort. Once they achieve this, they can meaningfully engage with the most important social and ethical issues facing them.
