I love seeing my learners master and apply new knowledge while caring for patients.
Medical education with compassion and respect is my vision. To me, education is more than acquiring knowledge, skills, and attitudes: It also involves developing the whole person to become a well-rounded clinician. I love seeing my learners master and apply new knowledge while caring for patients. Watching learners understand complex concepts and cultivate caring attitudes toward patients motivates me to enhance my teaching skills. I identify my learners’ needs and adapt my teaching to help each one learn more effectively. I establish an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect to promote learning. I encourage learner participation and encourage them to think critically and form new ideas. I couple my enthusiasm for human values with scientific inquiry and technology so learners embrace modern medicine with all its complexities and provide compassionate care. I want to produce positive changes in learners’ behavior. Modeling appropriate behavior is one way I impart knowledge. I believe medical students and residents learn empathy, compassion, and caring attitudes when they see that in me as a teacher.
